Wood Type Collection

Great session with Kevin Auer and Colin Frazer at the Art and Art History Institute of UT, showing us their press and the wonderful wood type collection.

This print is a bit battered from the transport, but is was a great session and I am looking forward to continue working on project with the Austin Bookwokers meetup and these two great profs!

Texas Sky

What would be a Texas blog without a picture of the incredible sky here in Texas? There are many beautiful things to see here in Texas, but the sky....is top.

McNay in San Antonio

What a great museum, what outstanding art. These are just a few pictures from the outside, but it is a wonderful, world class museum. The new part and the old part work together really well, and the garden, filled with a few fine sculptures is a treasure in itself.

The lower part of the older building from the park:

The incredible inside yard - a small fountain, canal, plants and places to rest in the shade.

The lower part - different perspective

A plate on one of the small walls in the park

And here is the McNay on maps plus their own homepage.

Onion-Bacon-Wheat Bread

Just a quick one:

Wheat (full), some cut up center-cut bacon, one small chopped onion, water, yeast.
Mix, stand, knead, let rise, bake. Prepared yesterday, baked this morning. Very decent outcome :-) , not too salty, moist but no yeasty flavor.

Archery shots - just some random pictures from a nice day on the bowhunters range

Bowhunters range is the range that is along a long walk through the forest in Emma Long state park. Depending on the route I take, I can shoot at 20 to 30 targets, but the main thing for me is to hike slowly through the quiet forest, watch for animals, breathe the hot air.

Texas Garden from last year

What grew best last year in my little garden? Chile piquin, or cayenne pepper as it is called when ground to powder. Little hot peppers - loved by the birds, and oh so delicious on a sandwich. A slice of selfmade sourdough wheat bread with butternut squash and olive oil and a few chile piquin. ..... Getting hungry, need to stop writing about food...
