Just saw some exhibitions at the Blanton Museum:

There was also a family day event Friday and Saturday (December 27/28, 2013)  - printmaking to learn the very basics alongside the Augsburg exhibition - which had a few excellent pieces from Albrecht Duerer and others.

The little museum school, staffed with very friendly helpers, offered everyone to make an 'etching' into a small plastic card, then print with it on a folded card raw. Etching was actually not that easy and finer details not possible. But it was a lot of fun - like the potato stamping I sometimes do to make cover papers.

I very much liked the Waltercio Caldas exposition as well, a rather lighthearted, playful art I think.

Austin book arts fair

The 28th Austin book arts fair on the grounds of the AMOA arts school was again run successfully by the independent Austin book workers.

Great team, great art, great visitors - thanks everyone.
Check the pictures out on the site of the Austin Book Workers.

4th of July

What a feast.

4th of July, and we really had a treat:

Angel food cake with hand whipped heavy cream, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.
Next time I'll do a picture - this is what we usually have for this day's dinner. Hmmm. And today we had leftovers, not bad either :-)

Vacation in Colombia

Just came back from a super awesome holiday trip - Bogota and Leticia in Colombia. So I am going to post a bunch of pictures over the next days and perhaps weeks.

From the airplane - approaching Leticia
with a boat through the jungle

Lots of water, lots of plants, lots of animals difficult to see

Ploink is the sound these birds make

Waterlillies

The muddy waters of the Amazon

Giant trees - nearly double the height of the other canopy
